Public Art

I’ve won several art commissions and been fortunate to create personal visions intact. “Go Mama,” and “Earth Tear,” represent two concepts I have worked on for a life time; Womanhood/ Maternal and Caring for the Environment.

The Maternal was evident in “Go Mama,” with the running ragdoll (see review here) and worried child embedded in her body. It reflects care-taking, where two personas are merged as one. Earth Tear was made in 1995 during an Artist-In-Residency at Sanitary Fill, Norcal Co. at the major disposal yard for the Bay Area. The work was created with a frame of steel and discarded plastic bottles to form the shape of a tear drop. “Go Mama” and “Earth Tear” spurred a career in public art with a series of subsequent art installations and projects.
